Feature
Starting with Goldenseal construction estimating software version 4.5,
we've updated most of the material prices in our Cost
Item database.
Suggested By
We periodically update the construction prices in Goldenseal, but waited
a little longer than usual because of the low
rate of inflation.
How to Use
Updated prices are included on all CD's shipped on July 9, 2010 and
later.
If you ordered Goldenseal before that date but haven't started using
it yet, download a starter file from
our website, and use that instead of a starter file from the CD.
Importing into Older Files If you have been using Goldenseal for a while but haven't updated any
of your own prices, you can do the following to get the
more recent prices:
- Download a starter file from our
website.
- Open it.
- Choose Export from the File menu, and choose One Transaction
Class from the submenu.
- Enter Cost Items into the Export From popup field. Leave
the other two fields set to All Items. Click
OK.
- You'll be asked for a name and location for the export
file. Give it a name you'll remember, and store
it somewhere on your hard drive that you'll remember.
Click OK.
- Goldenseal will export the next prices.
- Quit/Exit from Goldenseal.
To import the new prices into your company file, follow these steps:
- Open your company file.
- Choose Import from the File menu, and choose One Transaction
Class from the submenu.
- Enter Cost Items into the Class to Import popup field,
and Update Existing Items Only in the Action
popup field.
- Click OK.
- You'll be asked to locate a file to import. Choose the
file you exported in step 5 above.
- You'll see a field order dialog. You only need to import
the Object ID and Purchase Price fields. Click
OK.
- Goldenseal will import the new prices into your estimating
database.
Technical Details
Most prices were gathered in April 2010, from a variety of local and
online sources.
