Job Costing Feedback-- Prompted

NOTE-- We retired the MacNail estimating program in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still a significant number of die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for them! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract writing.

Feeding back Costs-- Prompted

If you've checked 'Use prompt at each category' under Feedback Options, the MacNail construction management software will carefully check the Cost Control worksheet, and alert you any time there is something suspicious. This prompting process takes a little more of your time, but it gives you much better control over the actual numbers that you're feeding back to your permanent price database.

To run a prompted feedback:

1. Choose Feedback Job Costs from the Data menu.

2. If a Cost Control worksheet is the active document, you'll be asked whether to use it as a source of feedback information.
Otherwise, you 'll be asked to choose a Cost Control worksheet to use as a source.

3. If you are using more than one Price Master, you'll be asked to choose one as a destination for the price adjustments.

4. The Cost Control worksheet will be opened, and it will be checked to make sure it's an appropriate source of job cost information.

NOTE: 'Office' and 'Other' Cost Control sheets can't be used for feedback.
