Material Price Sheets |

NOTE-- We retired the MacNail estimating program in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still a significant number of die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for them! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract writing. It's much easier to update prices in Goldenseal, than in MacNail! Estimating Price Sheets The MacNail construction management software includes the MacNail Price Sheet, where you can list the latest material prices from each of your suppliers. You can also create additional Price Sheets (see page 90). To open a Price Sheet, choose Material Price Sheets from the MacNail (McN) menu. You can also choose Open File from the File menu, then click Price Sheets. The material item column (col. A) is a short text 'code' symbol for each material item. It is used to link items between the Price Sheet, the Comparisons file and the Assemblies file. The description column (col. B) is a more complete text description that will be used for material takeoffs and material price requests. The size column (col. C) lists the purchase size for the item. The net price will be for one of these units, whether it is ea (each), square feet, lineal feet, rolls, boxes, or some other unit. The net price column (col. D) lists the latest price for one purchase unit. If the source is 'compared', this price will be computed from the Comparisons file. Otherwise, you'll type it in. The source column (col. E) lists the supplier or other source for each material item. If the item is being calculated from the Comparisons file, the source will be listed as 'compared'. The date column (col. F) shows when the material price was last updated. When you type in a new or changed cost, type today's date into this column. HINT: A handy shortcut: type command-hyphen to enter today's date automatically. The category column (col. G) is a material category description that lets you 'group' materials of a similar type together with the Sort Special command. The markup column (col. H) allows you to add a 'markup' percentage to all materials, so that additional cost will be used in your estimating. |
