Changing Materials

NOTE-- We retired the MacNail estimating program in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still a significant number of die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for them! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract writing. It has price comparisons built into each Cost Item, with automatic posting of the most recent price from up to three different vendors.

Changing Compared Prices for Estimates

To change a compared material price, scroll to the appropriate line and type in new information.

To change the way the Comparisons worksheet calculates net prices, choose Comparison Formulas from the Formula menu. You'll be able to change either the selected cells or the entire worksheet. The MacNail construction management software gives you the option of calculating the net price based on the minimum of the listed suppliers, the average of them, or half way between the minimum and the average.

NOTE: When you add new rows, they will be calculated based on the same method you most recently selected using the Comparisons Formulas command.
