NOTE-- This inexpensive tropical hardwood is called both luaun and luan. Google hit counts show that the luan spelling has become more popular.

We figure that a carpenter can install about 24 square feet of fir fflooring per hour on a porch.

The cost includes 3.6 lineal feet of nominal 1x4 luaun flooring strips, plus some fasteners.

NOTE-- At the time we developed the Goldenseal unit costs, luaun was the primary tropical wood that was available for general construction use. If you now use a different species, you can simply change the Cost Item to a different name, or duplicate this unit cost and change the material Cost Item to a different wood species.
