Differences between Goldenseal and BizWrench/BizRatchet

This page explains basic interface differences between Goldenseal and BizWrench/BizRatchet.

BizWrench Basic Interface

Windows: Goldenseal has separate windows for each type of record. BizWrench uses a single window, with tabs to switch between record types.

Menu Commands: Goldenseal has all commands in the menu bar at screen top. In BizWrench, you access each type of records from a list on the left. Most other menu commands are now in buttons at the top of the app window.

Right Clicks: BizWrench uses right-click for many actions. Goldenseal does not use them at all. When in doubt, try a right-click!

Favorites: Goldenseal remembers every opened window. It often gets cluttered. When you open BizWrench, it only shows records that you've marked as Favorites. If you open other record tabs, they will only stick around until you Exit/Quit. That helps keep the window more tidy.HINT: To always start with a type of record showing, right click on it in the list on the left, then choose Add to Favorites.

Other Differences

Action Commands: Click the Actions button to bill for projects, deposit funds, pay bills, reconcile bank statements or write payroll.

Breakdowns: BizWrench shows breakdown items in a separate window. Click the Breakdown button to see them.

Custom Layouts: BizWrench changes layouts from the record layout instead of using a menu command for all layouts. To change a sales layout, open the Sales tab, then click the Layout button.HINT: After you open a layout, you can use the popup fields to see any other layout, similar to how Goldenseal works.

Reports: BizWrench uses a different path to see reports. To view a sales report, open the Sales tab, then click the Reports button. HINT: Once you are viewing a report, you can use the popup fields at the top and switch to any other type of report.
